BIOGRAPHY
BILL RODMAN
Bill Rodman cut his storytelling chops in television newsrooms in Wyoming and Louisiana in the 1990s where he quickly became the sought after staff photojournalist. Rodman's broad skillset and passion for the "human" element of storytelling offered him a unique opportunity. He was among the first to embrace and pioneer a new experiment in TV news at the time - the role of One Man Band. Frowned upon as a cost cutting measure by many, Rodman considered shooting, reporting and editing the ultimate challenge and set out to master all three. He soon earned the first two Suncoast Emmys awarded to WAFB staff, he was named the Louisiana Associated Press Reporter of the Year and was a Finalist for the Large Market NAPTE Iris Award, showcasing the best locally produced programs in the English speaking world. Rodman used the resourcefulness and lessons learned from his OMB days to build a successful Emmy and Addy Award winning production career. And true to his storytelling roots, he continues to produce award winning non-fiction film and television projects.
FLO ULMER
Flo Ulmer is an enabler. After an undergraduate degree at LSU, her professional career began as a CPA in public accounting. Tired of tax and audit work she moved to industry. For 14 years she was the Business Manager at WAFB where she fine tuned her ability to rob Peter and pay Paul keeping budgets in check enabling department heads the freedom to focus on their jobs. It was at WAFB she met Bill Rodman, her future husband. Seeking something more nourishing than a 8-5 job working for someone else, she left to join him as a partner in The Bill Rodman Production Shoppe in 2003. Today she uses the organizational skills required of a CPA as an Executive Producer and pursues her interest in writing when given the opportunity. Her 1st documentary project: “Making a Way,” garnered her a Suncoast Emmy for writing, inspiring her to always be on the look-out for the next big project.
